About APAM
Recognizing the demand for a close cooperation in the field of material science and technology, and with the aim of promoting progress in this crucial field in the Asia-Pacific region through mutual cooperation the Constituent meeting held during 26-30 April 1992 in Shanghai, hosted by Shanghai Institute of Metallurgy, Chinese Academy of Sciences, established the ASIA - PACIFIC SOCIETY FOR ADVANCED MATERIALS (APSAM). At IV annual APSAM meeting the General Assembly held on 12 December 1996 in Bangalore, India, decided to transform THE ASIA-PACIFIC SOCIETY FOR ADVANCED MATERIALS (APSAM) into THE ASIA-PACIFIC ACADEMY OF MATERIALS (APAM) which provides better involvement of members in achieving the objectives of the Academy.
APAM is a voluntary non-governmental institution, which brings together individuals as members who are recognized as outstanding specialists in material science and technology who have made significant contributions to cooperation in Asia-Pacific Region: throughout promotion of free exchange of knowledge and cooperation, amounts education, research and development, and industry.
